Product details The REWE logistics center in Henstedt-Ulzburg was installed over 60 weeks and includes a multilevel platform of over 13,000 m² with more than 100 staircases and 2 km of handrail. It features a 22-meter-high automated pallet racking system with 3,900 pallet locations, a hybrid racking zone for pallets and trays with 23,000 locations on an 80 × 60 m footprint. And it has a 30-meter-high self-supporting clad-racking with integrated mezzanines, offering 24,000 pallet locations on a 100 × 90 m footprint.

The new automated logistics center, built by TORRI in Henstedt-Ulzburg for the food retailer REWE, supplies over 350 stores throughout northern Germany. The integration between the metal structures developed by TORRI and the automated intralogistics solutions provided by the leading German system integrator Witron was once again successfully achieved thanks to the design expertise and synergies of a long-standing partnership.

The facility, which covers an area of over 140,000 m² including administrative buildings, will hold over 12,000 different items of dry and fresh foods and will allow REWE to process up to 165,000 packages on peak days, thus facilitating the store’s operations.

An important design factor was the integration of the structures in a context that fully complies with important environmental sustainability parameters, so that the entire complex is now in line with the Gold standards of the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council).
